Joost is Open to the Public

October 2, 2007   0 Comments

Joost, has had a busy day. This morning they pulled the blind fold off the public and opened their doors. No longer do you have to rely on EntertainMac or another of your buddies sending you a private invitation. Just like the hundreds of beta testers you can now have access to over 15,000 shows, on some of your favorite networks.

Joost has been going for 2 years now on their concept. Receiving countless emails and feedback from their beta testers, and taking each into consideration, the current application is a marvel to play with and watch. Although very polished, their work is not done, as the application now readies itself to reach out of beta status and on to version 1.0.

Congratulations to the Joost Team, for their incredible product! We can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeves. You may join joost and download the latest version from their site.

Joost - 0.10.3

May 28, 2007   1 Comments

Joost has released a 'friendlier' version in 0.10.3. This latest release has many bug fixes and promised to improve your Joost Experience. Personally I've never had a bad Joost Experience, so with them wanting to improve it, I can't wait to see what they have rolled up their sleeves.

The release specifically is a bug-fixing release, and a modification to their advertising. The ads appear between segments, and little box ads in the corners. I think its executed nicely. They are not loud and in your face and don't interrupt your user experience. Joost also has a blog widget, which allows you to blog videos or channels. The links will lead you to cross-referenced pages for each program.

For the developers out there check out the new API for widgets. It would be great to get some FrontRow launcher in there or something.

Joost is available for download from their website.

Joost on an Apple TV

March 28, 2007   0 Comments

One of the largest complaints about AppleTV, besides the lack of DVD support, is the lack of a TV Tuners. Well after some hacking Joost is successfully running on an AppleTV.

Joost is in Beta testing still but the potential is captivating. This application connections you to free IPTV networks. It combines the best of the cable television with whats available on the internet. The community allows you to interact with other Joost viewers.
