99¢ iTunesPlus Tracks
October 15, 2007

Some readers have pointed out that there are a few 99¢ iTunes Plus tracks available in the iTunes Store. This is 30¢ cheaper then the standard $1.29 price point for DRM-Free iTunes Tracks.
We browsed through some of the iTunes Plus selection and found many tracks now available at 99¢. These all seem to be related to
SubPop,
Nettwerk and other independent record labels. Nettwerk represents Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan both which has 99¢ tracks now. Subpop represents a wide variety of mostly alternative-independent artists, most notably Postal Service and Band of Horses.
In our brief search we found
Band of Horses: Cease to Begin,
ChillOut: a Nettwerk Escape,
Iron & Wine, and
Herschell Gordon Lewis all at the new price. MacDailyNews is also reporting that Flight of the Conchords and The Perishers are also at the same price tag.
So it appears that this may be limited to specific tracks, specific artists and specific record labels, we hope to see more DRM tracks appearing at the 99¢ price point. We applaud SubPop and Nettwerk for their contributions to this effort.
